3rd Grade - Blown Ink Monsters

3rd graders started off the year talking about line and viewing the artwork of contemporary artist Stefan Bucher.  The kids were excited about Bucher's work and couldn't wait to get started on their own ink monsters.  I used an eye dropper to put a few dots of black ink onto each students' paper, which they then blew around using a straw.  They then had to look at the lines the blown ink had made and figure out how to use them as part of a monster or creature they came up with.  The results were inspired.  They look great!
