1st Grade - Positive and Negative Space

1st graders undertook a pretty difficult concept for this project with positive and negative space.  We looked at some examples and talked about this idea for quite a bit before we got started on the project.  First, students drew a picture of something onto small poster-board cards, then cut them out around the outside.  The students used these cut outs as stencils to trace onto paper with Sharpie markers four or five times before painting the negative space between them.  The results look pretty cool.  See if you can guess the objects the kids chose to draw for their stencils.
