Chalk pastels have made their triumphant - and wildly dusty - return to the art room. I really like the look the kids can get with them, which makes how dirty we all get worth it. The first graders looked at a very famous portrait by Paul Klee and talked about how the artist put it all together with shapes. We then set out to make our own Klee-inspired portrait, using lines in the face to create different shapes.
