Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school, Wilmington students!  The summer flew by and for the last few weeks the art room has been bustling with activity.  We have a lot of new projects on tap this year to mix in with some of last year's instant classics.  So far, each grade has been working with line in different ways.  The younger kids are building vocabulary and learning about all different types of lines.  The older kids are learning how to interpret lines and use them in various ways in their artwork.  I'll post more pictures as we finish more projects, but here's a taste of what's been going on in Mr. Schmidt's class:

Kindergarten has been practicing making all sorts of different lines with all sorts of different supplies.

Kindergartners putting their new knowledge of line to good use in a watercolor resist painting.

Third graders interpreting blown ink and turning them into monsters.

Third graders giving their monsters a place to live with a colorful background.

Fifth graders expressing themselves with this Zentangle project.
