Kindergarten - Imaginary Portraits

We use our imaginations a lot in my art room to draw things that aren't really there.  Monsters or made-up shapes and the like.  For this project, we draw things we can see and we use our imaginations to add to it.

It's a partner portrait project, so we pay close attention to the details about our partner.  Eye color, shirt patterns, glasses, and so on.  The goal is that if I walk by and look at your drawing, I should be able to tell who you're drawing.

The second part is to fill in the background with your imagination.  Maybe you're imagining your partner in the middle of the ocean, or in a castle.  This project really turned out well this year.  Take a look at a few select artworks by the kindergartners.
