3rd Grade - Henna Hands

Third graders got cultural with this project.  To start, we looked at a bunch of examples temporary henna tattoos from India and discussed their purpose.  We put our own little twist on it and came up with our own symbols to mix with some traditional mehndi symbols that I provided in a handout on a traced cutout of our hands.  We finished it off with by gluing it onto a colored piece of paper for pop.  The kids had a lot of fun trying the intricate symbols and making their artwork look more and more interesting.  Take a look at a few shining examples.
