Starting with this simple one-day project: Superhero Sticks. I invented this game to play when kids finished projects early. Along the same lines as 3 Sticks (also a big hit with the kids), students will use the words on the sticks to create a random picture, except this time that picture is a superhero with a sweet nickname. It works, simply, like this: pull a green stick from the green container - that's the first word of your superhero - then add the orange stick as your second word.
All my students play this game (kindergarten through sixth grade), and it's been really great. Here are some examples from just first and second grade, though.
